Nathan Evans (Ohio)

Nathan Evans (June 24, 1804 – September 27, 1879) was a U.S. Representative from Ohio.

Born in Belmont County, Ohio, EvansCounty clerk of Belmont County in 1827 and 1828. He taught school. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1831 and commenced practice in Hillsboro, Ohio. He moved to Cambridge, Ohio, in 1832. He served as mayor of Cambridge in 1841. He served as prosecuting attorney of Guernsey County 1842–1846.

Evans was elected as a Whig to the Thirtieth and Thirty-first Congresses (March 4, 1847 – March 3, 1851). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1850. He resumed the practice of law in Cambridge. He served as again mayor of Cambridge 1855–1857. He served as judge of the court of common pleas 1859–1864. He resumed the practice of law. He died in Cambridge, Ohio, September 27, 1879. He was interred in South Cemetery.
